Report on COVID-19 News and Measures in Republic of Serbia

The purpose of this gathered information is to spread verified information regarding the COVID-19 measures in the Republic of Serbia, which may be of great value to SAKOM websites’ visitors.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Republic of Serbia in last March 2020, the country has gone through an enormous transition of adapting to the unprecedented hardships, doing everything in its power to give its citizens needed protection. Nevertheless, the citizens themselves had also to present their willingness to cooperate and follow the precautionary measures.

As of July 2, the total number of patients in Serbia since the beginning of the pandemic has exceeded half a million – a total of 716 717 cases of coronavirus have been registered so far. Furthermore, 4 430 567 people have been tested, and 8 065 people have died. The mortality rate is 0.98%.

Two cases of coronavirus Delta strain have been reported.

Entry Regime in the Republic of Serbia

Individuals coming to the Republic of Serbia from all countries of the world, except the Republic of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Montenegro and Hungary, are allowed to enter the Republic of Serbia only with the negative RT-PCR test not older than 48 hours.

Individuals coming from the USA are allowed to enter the country with a negative FIA Rapid Antigen test instead of a negative RT-PCR test.

Otherwise, the citizens of these countries will be given a written notice – a health warning about the obligation to comply with the quarantine measure at home for ten days.

Vaccination Statistics

As per data of June 24, 2021, 2,7 million of Serbian citizens received the first, and 2,5 million citizens received the second dose of vaccine against COVID-19. The Director of the Office for IT Government, Mihailo Jovanić, stated that more than 400 000 digital green certificates were issued through the eGovernment portal, and Serbia is getting closer to the number of 50% of those vaccinated.

Current Precautionary Measures

During the last 14 days, the Crisis Staff for prevention of COVID-19 has issued new decisions to ease epidemiological measures, which allow the festivals to be held, in addition to all sorts of celebrations and graduations that had already been approved. Furthermore, longer working hours of bars and restaurants have been permitted together with live music.
